About Us Bryan Grossbauer and Mike Papaleo met as theatre students at Eastern Illinois University in the fall of 1996. Their first collaboration was a benefit for Eastern’s Theatre Department. Upon graduation Bryan moved to New York where he has performed in several off and off-off Broadway shows. Mike toured in Windy City Player’s production of Cinderella and moved to New York in the spring of 2002. Bryan and Mike began collaborating on innovative character-based theatre once again, this time under the guise of Tree Theatre.

 Bryan has been busy performing throughout the east coast. Previous New York theatre credits include Moonworks ROMEO AND JULIET and MISALLIANCE at the Pulse Ensemble Theatre. Internationally, Bryan has performed in the Montreal and Toronto Fringe Festivals. He has also been seen in Jagermeister and Time Warner commercials. Bryan is a graduate of the Eastern Illinois theatre program, currently teaches performing arts at a private Manhattan school, and is the summer program director of musical theatre at Bank Street College.
Mike Papaleo
 Mike graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2000. Besides his work at Tree Theatre, Mike has toured with Windy City Players, performed at New York Comedy Club and studied at Upright Citizens Brigade. He has been fortunate enough to star in several off-off Broadway productions, including HELLO OUT THERE at Steinberg Theatre and GUTTER RAT at Theatre Studio Inc.
Benito Heckscher Benito is a French Spanish teacher at the Calhoun School for Humans. He plays bass in a three-man band, and has co-sponsored Tree Theatre events. Benito has also been known to moonlight as an ax maker and twiddler of light-board dials for said Company. Born in France and outsourced to England at the age of five, he upgraded to New England in 1995, and more specifically, New York in 1999.
